Monteluna, Vermentino 2006 12% abv
When we were given the opportunity to try the Vermentino from Trexenta, the brilliant Sardinian producer of our Cannonau, we were excited because their wines are not only interesting and delicious, but also seriously good value for money. Well, we weren't disappointed.
This Vermentino is light, very fresh, a little minerally and beautifully creamy. The warmer climate and inland location of the vineyard gives this wine a slightly riper fruit flavour than it's more Northern counterparts. It's a perfect introduction to this increasingly popular Sardinian white grape variety, and excellent as an accompaniment to pasta and pizza, or for easy every day drinking.
