Messidoro, Sangiovese rosato 12% abv
Sangiovese, the grape that produces Chianti, also lends itself very well to the production of lovely, fruity rosato wines like this one from small, boutique producers Piazzano, from Empoli in the north west of Tuscany. It is deep and garnet coloured, with floral notes on the nose and lots of strawberries and summer fruits on the palate.
We think this is great for summer drinking on its own, but it also works really well with pasta dishes and it's also got enough body and character to pair brilliantly with barbeque food.
