Syrah IGT 2005

Syrah, IGT 2005  14% abv

The 2005 vintage Syrah is one of the top wines from Piazzano, a small Tuscan producer based near Empoli with a reputation for fine, boutique wines with lots of character. The Syrah certainly has that... it is mature, full of ripe berry fruit flavours, with pepper, and lots of wonderful vanilla on the nose. It's also powerful stuff. The wine has great body, quite a bit of complexity and a long, beautifully smooth finish.

They do Syrah rather well in Tuscany, and this is a fine example. We recommend it with game, a hearty stew, or better yet a big juicy steak, and of course to enjoy this wine to it's full potential it should be decanted, or the bottle opened, for a couple of hours before you drink it.
