We're really chuffed with this super new addition to the Castello portfolio from one of our favourite, small Piemontese producers, Cossetti. The family uses a double selection method to ensure only the best Dolcetto grapes are chosen to produce a wine of the highest quality.

Dolcetto is a very popular variety in Italy, but not as well known outside Italy as it's Piemontese neighbours Nebbiolo (which makes both Barolo and Barbaresco) or Barbera. It is rightly coming to the world's attention and is tipped to be big in 2008. Fragrant and floral on the nose, with lots of fruit, this Dolcetto is very easy-going, smooth, a little unusual with caramel overtones, and perfect with meat dishes, hearty pasta or strong-flavoured risottos. We've been drinking this lately with red pepper and chilli risotto, and it's a great match.
