Chianti DOC, 2007

Chianti DOC 2007, Piazzano  13.5% abv

Piazzano is a small, independent producer from Empoli (about 30km west of Florence) who produce seriously good boutique wines mostly from traditional Tuscan grape varieties. Their Chianti is a world beater, and Castello's signature red... this is the wine we hang our hat on and which we think represents our style and philosophy perfectly.

Made with 100% sangiovese grapes, the wine is bright ruby red in colour with distinctive cherry overtones. It is quite full bodied, really smooth, and drinking superbly right now. With another year or two in the bottle we think the 2007 vintage has the potential to be a really memorable one.

Great with hearty pasta dishes, lamb or veal. We were drinking this the other night with pepperoni pizza and loving it...!
