Sauces, passata and pesto

All of the sauces in the Castello range are made in Italy by small producers using fresh ingredients and using no artificial colours or preservatives. We’re sure that you will really taste the difference between these authentic, high quality sauces and those you would get from your supermarket.

Italians eat pasta with sauces in a different way to most Brits. In Italy, they don't drown the pasta with loads of sauce on top. Instead they mix the sauce with the cooked pasta so that it just coats each piece.  Then they serve it with parmesan cheese, black pepper and some fresh bread. Our sauces are just enough for two people, served in this way (other than the passata which is a basis for a much larger tomato sauce, and the pesto, which should be used more sparingly).
